We Are The Giant

Date Leaving: 26 March 2017

We Are The Giant is a documentary that follows the stories of several young individuals from ordinary backgrounds that find themselves in the middle of the Arab Spring. These young adults realize their only option is to fight for what they believe in and become inspirational figures in their own countries uprising.

I was especially moved by the story of Maryam and Zainab AlKhawaja, and their tireless nonviolent resistance towards the Bahraini regime. Despite the suffering that their family has endured, they could have easily chosen a violent response to their treatment, but despite it all, they remain peaceful.

The film is overall optimistic, between the quotes and references to other civil uprisings, it gives the viewer hope that the individuals who have lost their lives have not done so in vain.
